The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a traffic disruption due to ongoing construction along the Thika Superhighway at Juja Highpoint (Centurion). From Saturday, February 15, 2025, to Tuesday, February 18, 2025, between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM, there will be partial closure daily. The closure will allow construction of a new footbridge to improve pedestrian safety.

Motorists traveling toward Nairobi will use a temporary diversion behind Lexo petrol station before rejoining the highway. Thika-bound traffic will divert behind the Centurion Hotel before rejoining the main road.

Impact of the Traffic Disruption

This traffic disruption will cause temporary inconveniences for road users. Thika Superhighway is one of Kenya’s busiest highways, serving thousands of commuters daily. The closure at Juja Highpoint may lead to slight delays, particularly during peak hours. Motorists should plan their journeys and use alternative routes.

KeNHA has assured the public that traffic marshals and police officers will be present to manage traffic flow and minimize congestion. Drivers should exercise caution and follow the directions to ensure safety during this period.

Traffic Disruption

Business and Economic Impact

Due to the temporary traffic disruption, businesses in the Juja Highpoint area may experience reduced customer traffic. Fuel stations, restaurants, and retail outlets along the affected section may notice changes in their usual operations. However, constructing the new footbridge is expected to enhance accessibility, benefiting businesses in the long run.

What Motorists Should Do

KeNHA urges all motorists to remain cautious and adhere to the new traffic diversions. While this traffic disruption may cause minor delays, the long-term benefits of improved safety and road infrastructure will be significant. Motorists can reach KeNHA for further inquiries through their toll-free number or website.

Plan your trips accordingly to avoid unnecessary delays.
